2nd Workshop

The theme of the 2nd workshop (17 November 2010) was the economic impact of FOSS on the regional economy (software market and beyond). During the first part of the workshop examples of FOSS usage in public administration in Latvia were presented, delivered by the Latvian Open Technology Association, and State Social Assurance Agency - the pioneer in FOSS usage among public administration institutions in Latvia.

Presentations were followed by practical activities in three working groups moderated by local experts. During group sessions a number of issues regarding potential benefits from FOSS usage for regional economic development were discussed, followed by summaries and conclusions presented by working group moderators for other participants.
